The Chapel & the Sixth Form
The Chapel is a much-loved space and becomes a highly significant part of school life for many Year 12 and 13 students. It’s a place to find support and friendship, peace and stillness as well as providing many opportunities to explore faith – or to grow and develop in your faith.
Mrs Hutchinson, our Chaplain says, ‘I am here for each individual student. I can offer a listening ear, advice and a cup of hot chocolate! Conversations can be faith-based, involve praying or reading the Bible together – or none of these things! I love helping students to navigate their time here, and wherever you are spiritually, a warm welcome at the Chapel is there for everyone.’
‘As Chaplain, I also see my role as taking the zeal and vision of students of faith and enabling them to lead our younger students. These relationships are key to the vibrancy of the Chapel. Daily lunchtime groups are frequently led by sixth form students: Christian Union, Counter Culture Club, BOY Group, GIRL group, worship and prayer sessions.
‘We have a designated Sixth Form Student Chaplaincy Team which meets half termly to plan school-wide events. We are actively planning Christian leadership and student chaplaincy training for this team. There is also a fortnightly Sixth Form group, Refuel, to chat, share, read Scripture and discuss matters of faith together.’
