Pastoral Support
Pastoral support is provided to all sixth form students with a view to overseeing student wellbeing and to triage students to both internal and external support services. We are really proud of te comprehensive pastoral support offered to students. Whether this is low level exam anxiety or support in dealing with major life events.
In Year 12, students have a Form Tutor who they see four mornings each week. Form Tutors act as the first port of call to support students. Their non-teaching Head of Year is also available throughout the day, alongside the Head of Sixth Form. In Year 13, students have academic mentors to support with progress and any other wellbeing concerns they may have.
We have a range of internal resources that allow us to support Sixth Form students. These include anxiety action plans and a mental health support PDF booklet (see below) which both students and parents can utilise. We have a strong focus on equipping students with strategies to support their own wellbeing so they have the skills and resilience required for their next steps beyond Bishop Stopford School.
This section of the website allows you to explore some of the other ways we are able to support students such as the work of our Chaplain, Mrs Hutchinson, the Wellbeing Committee, which is student led, and our partnerships with external agencies.
